We’ve found a few easy recipes that encompass a bold twist, sure to add spicy smells throughout your home. Whether you’re a current homeowner in the market for a new home, or just getting situated in your new Offerpad purchased a home, we wanted to share a few quick meal options. We’ve tested these are ourselves and believe you will also enjoy. So, let’s get that stovetop fired up and put your new kitchen to the test!

Spicy Southwestern steak

spicy steak searedFirst up is for you carnivores that enjoy a nice little kick of spicy flavor on your palate. To make this spicy southwestern style dish, you’ll need a large-sized non-stick skillet, your choice of steak, and we’ll be sizzling it on the stovetop. Start by rubbing the spices onto the steak, make sure you do both sides for maximum flavor coverage. Then, turn the burner to medium-high temperature with a tablespoon of vegetable oil in the center of the pan and once the oil starts to pop from the heat, gently place the steak in the center. In 1-2 minutes, check the underside of the steak to make sure it’s getting seared to perfection. Once it chars, flip the steak over to char both sides on high heat. Once both sides are light char blackened, flip the steak back over and turn the heat down to medium, then continue to flip the steak every two minutes to maintain even cooking on both sides. The steak should cook all the way through within 10 minutes or so, but this all depends on if you prefer rare, medium or well-done.

PRO TIP: We suggest using tongs and not a fork. If you pierce the steak with a fork or knife, the juices will not be locked inside, they may seep out of the holes and your spicy southwestern steak can lose flavor.”

Food items needed to make the perfect Southwestern Spicy Steak:

  • 2 teaspoons of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon of fresh garlic salt
  • Dash of saffron, crushed red peppers & thyme

Southwestern style salad

southwestern saladMaking this bold southwestern style salad is going to be a synch for you. Grab an oversized bowl that will allow you to toss if desired and then put anywhere from 4-6 ounces of chopped romaine lettuce in the bowl. Grab a cutting board and cherry tomatoes. Give each one of them a nice quick chop and double your performance with chopping the cilantro leaves to the perfect size. You can either place each ingredient in a pile on top of the lettuce or if you’re wanting to toss the salad you can just place all the ingredients in one pile. Then add your canned corn and beans (drain any liquid from the cans and enter the desired amount of vegetables). Top it off with some tortilla strips and dressing of your choice.

Food items needed to make the perfect Southwestern Style Salad:

  • Chopped romaine lettuce
  • Cherry tomatoes halved/quartered to the desired amount
  • 1 can of black beans & 1 can of corn (drain prior to adding)
  • Fresh cilantro leaves chopped to size
  • Tortilla strips
  • Chipotle ranch or cilantro lime dressing

BONUS: Double chocolate bundt cake

double_chocolate_bundt_cakeFor the homeowners with a sweet tooth, this will surely satisfy your cravings. This double chocolate Bundt cake will have your family begging for more. You’ll need a Bundt cake cooking pan, double-chocolate cake pudding cake mix, 1 cup of sour cream and 1 cup vegetable oil. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Using a large mixing bowl, follow directions from the double-chocolate pudding cake mix (should require eggs), mix it together and pour into a Bundt cake pan. Make sure before you pour the cake mix into the pan that it is very well saturated with butter, so the cake will easily come out when finished. Bake for roughly 50-minutes (you can use a toothpick to poke the center of the cake to make sure it is cooked all the way through), then once it’s done remove the Bundt cake from the oven and let it cool for approximately 60 minutes before gently flipping it onto a dessert plate.

Items needed to make the perfect Double Chocolate Bundt Cake:

  • Bundt cake pan
  • Vegetable oil
  • Chocolate cake pudding mix
  • Eggs
  • Butter
  • Butter spray
  • Toothpick(s)
