Keeping Up With Mary Jo French

When Mary Jo and her husband Richard moved to Riverview, Florida, they got exactly what they wanted in a home. A spacious four bedroom to accommodate for their family, a lush yard to lounge in and an A+ school district for their kids to attend. After 17 years, their sons moved away. Mary Jo and Richard realized they had more space than they needed and yard maintenance was becoming a nuisance. They toyed with the idea of moving for years, but once Richard received a job offer in Seminole, they knew it was time.

Read on for more on Mary Jo and Richard’s experience with OfferPad, what it’s like living minutes from the beach and advice she has for homeowners considering putting their property on the market.

What do you like most about the area you just moved to?

We relocated to Seminole, Florida. It’s closer to my husband’s work and the beach – we can be there in 10 minutes! We’re renting a two bedroom / two bathroom condo now to give us time to explore the area. Our next step will be to purchase.

How many homes have you sold?

Two. The first home we sold was in Salt Lake City. We had our kids in Salt Lake before my husband’s job moved us to Chicago for a couple of years. Then we moved to Tampa for almost two decades. Now that we’re in Seminole, we have no inklings of moving anywhere else.

How would you describe your experiences with the previous homes you’ve sold?

The process was tenuous and stressful. I would get last minute phone calls from the real estate agent to do a showing between 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. We’d have to clean the house quickly and then get everyone packed up and out of the house for a few hours. We would also worry about the cat getting out of the house. Then we’d come home and find out the people never even came and all of that last minute cleaning and changing our plans was for nothing! We planned to stay in Chicago for a short time, so we rented and paid two mortgages while we waited for the Salt Lake house to sell.

What prompted your move this time around?

Riverview is a fantastic community and has great schools. It was perfect for growing boys, but we were ready at the time in our lives to downsize from a four-bedroom house. That home served its purpose and did us well. Hopefully, whoever buys the house enjoys it as much as we did.

Why did you choose to sell through OfferPad this time?

Richard heard the OfferPad commercial and got online when he came home. It sounded wonderful, but we wondered how legit it could be. Using OfferPad ended up being the best experience we’ve ever had. The whole idea of putting our house back on the market and doing all the cleaning and dealing with all the stress—we just didn’t want to do that again. OfferPad took all that stress away from us, and it was a breath of fresh air. It felt right, and everything fell into place.

Would you sell through OfferPad again?

Hands down, absolutely. From this point forward, I would never sell a house another way. It was the best experience ever. Richard and I have been telling everyone about OfferPad. They sent the closing agent to us! I was like, what more could you guys do for us? They held our hands the whole way through. There was nothing to do except to start packing.

What advice would you give to someone getting ready to sell their house?

I would recommend OfferPad to anyone thinking about selling their home. If you want to sell your home stress-free, OfferPad does everything. All you have to do is pack. Our closing was Friday, April 28th and we drove away on Sunday, May 1st. It was absolutely painless. Don’t hesitate!
