Are real estate agents becoming a thing of the past?

Are real estate agents becoming a thing of the past?

The short answer is no — knowledgeable and skilled agents are still in high demand. Rest assured, this profession is not following in the footsteps of the switchboard operators of olden days. How do we know? Because Offerpad is home to many of them and actively hiring additional agents. We love the human element real estate agents bring to the table, but we really love that consumers have more options these days with our service. Whether they’re operating under our roof or otherwise, the opportunity for real estate agents is still out there.

So, if the opportunity exists, why is there a general perception that real estate professionals are becoming obsolete? The culprit here is a rapidly changing industry.

The real estate industry looks dramatically different than it did from even just a few years ago. Consumers have more options now. Buying and selling a home is more convenient than ever thanks to new and innovative technologies available through Offerpad. Gone are the days when consumers had no alternative to preparing their home over long periods before it could be listed, tracking down a reputable real estate agent, or enduring tenuous back and forth negotiations — now, Offerpad streamlines the entire process. As consumer advocates, we think it’s a change for the better.

Brian Bair HeadshotEven though the industry has changed considerably, real estate is still a ‘people’ business. Agents have a very important role to play in providing the essential human element.”

– Brian Bair

Naturally, when you hear things like ‘technology’ and ‘streamline’ close together, your mind probably veers toward automation — admittedly, an intimidating word if you’re a job seeker. Despite the implications, real estate agents still have a place in this business. Although our modern approach is designed to provide expedient solutions in real estate, the human element remains the most important element when it comes to buying and selling homes.

Real estate shouldn’t be a cold or mechanical experience. We know that purchasing a new home or selling your existing one is a significant event in life — that’s worthy of celebration. Technology may help us provide faster solutions, but the human element enables us to understand our customers on a living room level. The experienced real estate professionals of Offerpad ensure we don’t lose sight of what really matters at the end of the day — you.

Offerpad was born from thousands of conversations we had with homeowners and future buyers over 10 years. We listened to their shared frustrations and imagined a better way of doing things. Today, we’re still drawing inspiration from the conversations our agents have with buyers and sellers; we’re always looking for new solutions to address their needs. Hiring additional agents across our various markets of operation allows us to better provide what matters most to today’s buyers and sellers.

Offerpad was founded by a group of real estate professionals who wanted to provide a better experience for their customers. Just as real estate agents are responsible for our early success, they’ll be major contributors to our future growth as a company — there will always be a home for them at Offerpad.
